As you may have seen in my starting photos I've got a pretty hairy chest. I was thinking of waxing my chest as it can't make me look less muscular surely! Maybe actually ill shave it because waxing will hurt like hell.
Anyone ever waxed their chest?...

Had mine waxed for charity a few years back, ended up with lots of horrible spots after... If I were going hairless I think I'd shave it, but it's not really the look I'm going for personally!

I've never waxed but a customer did his chest. Couldn't tattoo him for about a month as he had a real bad rash and spots, looked like acne.

One of my mates got pi**ed and he woke up to find his gf and a couple of her mates had waxed his chest and one of his legs. He said that the itching and rash lasted for ever. He even tried antihistimines and they didn't help.

Matt, you usually have to shave the skin before you tattoo don't you? Does the customer usually come ready shaved/waxed or do you do it for them?

Get some tea tree oil and put that over the area you have shaved, it should take some soreness out of the rash and shouldnt look so bad!
this is without doubt the gayest thread yet lol.
i cant help with the problem as im not manly enough to grow chest hair :(

tosser lol. let me let you all in on my secret. dont shave it all off. like its was said earlyer when hair grows back it tries to break through the skin. it gets sore and stuck in your skin unable to find a way out. this causes in grown hairs and a rash from the razors cheese grator effect lol. i just use a verry close beard trimmer all over. you get some stubble but you cant see it on a photo. the hair has already penitrated skin so its no wgere near as sore. try it. nikki clark extreme wed and dry shaver. available at currys!

I'll start by saying it wasn't me, but I know a bloke who for some reason thought it would be a good idea to give himself a back, sack & crack de-hairing with hair removal cream.... He reckoned it was agony at that all grew back!!!!

I heard the following story about a charity back, sack and crack, they were taking it in turns to rip strips off etc, well this lad was the first up for the sack part and an over eager girl (in the middle of a pub) ripped the strip and actually tore his ball bag!!!!! YIKES!!!!

antihistamines won't help, as there's no pathogens involved in the rash, it's just irritation, so no histamines will be released...so antihistamines would do nothing :)

what did you opt for Chris?
In the end of beard trimmered it down to shorter length and then wet shaved it with a blade. Was lovely and smooth straight after, but had stubble within a day and it caused horrible rash and had some ingrown hairs. Chest stubble is possibly one of the most irritating things, kept getting caught on my t-shirts!
I'm actually going to be trying to remove my chest hair again in about a week. Will try hair removal cream first (boots have one for men) and if that fails will try the dreaded waxing. I will report back here with my verdict on the best method!
waxing shouldnt irritate the skin at all. If its done correctly that is. Only thing that could irritate is if you are allergic to an ingredient. You gotta make sure you pull it off the right way and be consistant - Dont do it yourself as this would be impossible on the chest. Removal creams are a waste of time, it will come back straight away.

I disagree TW1, waxing can irritate the skin, it just depends on the individual and how sensitive their skin and hair follicules are and also the coarseness of their hair. Also, some people have more than one hair growing out of each hair follicule. Even if it is done professionally, which I used to have done regularly, it can still cause irritation!
Waxing wise, you wont know until you try it Chris.....give it a whirl mate and let us know hahaha

Heh, I am cursed/blessed (depends who you talk to!) with an extremely hairy chest!
I have to say i hate it, it hides all my hard work! haha, also i think i have created a complex in myself, i see it and just think I look dirty!
needless to say i have already walked down the path you are taking, tried shaving, then the hair removal creams, then self waxing at home!
The shaving irrated my skin, especially when the hair grew back! then i opted for hair removal cream... the stuff stinks btw!
that was pretty much the same as shaving!
So i thought "i know, i'll steal my sisters waxing kit and do it myself!"
I set it all up... locked my door... lit a candle... ok i didn't light a candle!
I put it on and attempted the first strip... ow that hurt like hell, then i had to try and continue so i didnt look like a complete twat!
Anyway never ever do it by yourself its a mistake! I have however started getting it waxed professionaly each month!
Lasts longer, doesn't irritate half as much as shaving when it grows back, and each month it seems to get thinner!!
I wont lie it hurts and it is red for a bit, but a few cold showers seems to do the trick at clearing that up!

Out of interest how much does it cost you to get it done professionally?
