would this make a effective upperbody workout?
overhead press
pullups or pulldowns
chest flies
band pull aparts
and maybe some bicep curls and a tricep exercise to finish arms off?

Depends how many times ur training, if u can train ur upper body twice a week then itd be best doing the pulling muscles one day then the pushing exercises the next. I do a push/legs/pull split twice a week with a day off after the 1st cycle. If ur just goin for mass then u cud do, clean n press, bench, press, chin ups, deadlifts, barbell curls and skull crushers, u cud do that twice a week doing the pushing exercises 1st 1 day and go heavy, then the next go heavy with the pulling exercises.

I would cut out the chest flyes because they are more of a refining exercise. As swigs says, do some bench pressing, that will build up the pec muscles and then do the flyes for refining later.

Id say bench press, bent over row, clean and press. deadlifts
