my dad has recently been told his cholestral is twice as high as normal , inclduing the usual more exersice and diet things, are there any supplements to aid this?

I dont think there are supplements to reduce cholestral levels? My advice would be to research all the high cholestral foods and obviously avoid these at all costs. Maybe if you deviced a food plan for your Dad built around healthy foods, it will give him an idea of meals he should be eating.

essential fats like omega 3 and 6 will help reduce bad cholestorol.

almonds and walnuts etc are good sources. simply changing his diet is key.

will taking up weight lifting speed the process aswell?

I would say probably stick to light cardio to start with rather than weight training and then as his health improves, he can move on to lifting weights.
He should consult his Doctor before starting any form of exercise though!

Try those cholesterol reducing drinks the flora one's or the likes, there known to reduce cholesterol aswell as improved diet know a few people who have them and it helps keep their cholesterol at bay. They are on the expensive side but overall improvement in health is beneficial for the cost you shell out.
